Short Bio
One-liner
Manish Jagdish Thatte is an independent inventor from Nashik, India, who has designed and filed patents for a complete balanced ternary computing stack — from carbon nanotube transistors to an operating system.
Extended (100 words)
Manish Jagdish Thatte is an independent inventor and researcher based in Nashik, Maharashtra, India. In 2006, he identified that carbon nanotube field-effect transistors exhibit three stable conducting states, making them natural candidates for balanced ternary logic. Over twenty years, he developed a complete computing stack around this insight: a novel transistor structure, gate library, processor architecture, compiler, operating system, filesystem, and data structure. In March 2026, he filed nine provisional patent applications at the Indian Patent Office, covering every layer of the system. The gate library has been verified through SPICE simulation using the RAVAN compact model, a physics-based Landauer transport model built specifically for the THATTE device.

The Project in One Paragraph
maniTLab is a one-person research laboratory founded by Manish Jagdish Thatte in Nashik, India. The lab's work centres on balanced ternary computing — a paradigm that uses three logic states (−1, 0, +1) instead of binary's two (0, 1). The project encompasses nine patents covering a complete vertical stack: from a novel carbon nanotube transistor structure through a processor architecture, compiler, operating system, filesystem, and algorithmic data structure. All inventions are authored solely by Thatte, with a core concept dating to 2006.
